Amanda was nominated for the Postdoctoral Excellence Award at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Amanda and co-authors published a recent paper in Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment on the role of citizen science and reversing the extinction of experience phenomena. In this work, we propose that citizen science as a means to reconnecting people with nature. This work was a collaboration from researchers around the world from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, North Carolina State University, Rutgers University, and the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.

The Association for Women in Science did a "Featured Affiliate" article on University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Amanda has been active with AWIS and other diversity initiatives at UNL. See the excerpt here.

Amanda's recent publication in the journal Cogent: Environmental Science on reframing communication about mosquitoes to prevent zika virus transmission was featured on The Communication Initiative Network.

Amanda won best talk in the second annual University of Nebraska-Lincoln Science Slam, an event to showcase research happening at the university. This Science Slam challenged postdoctoral research associates from across the university to share their science in 5 minutes or less in an engaging and accessible way. Seven postdocs from across UNL were chosen to participate.

Amanda's op-ed was recently featured in AGU's ​The Plainspoken Scientist-Blogosphere entitled "Is Citizen Science democratizing science? Research in the evaluation and design of citizen science programs can help determine long-term benefits."
